Childbirth Education

Childbirth preparation classes are designed to help the expectant mother and her partner to have a positive birth experience. By using intuition to engage in the physical aspects of labor, deep relaxation to calm their anxieties, and knowledge to make decisions, a woman allows herself to surrender to the experience and thus remains 'in control' of her birth. Participants will learn the physiological aspects of pregnancy, labor and delivery, review research-based pros and cons of common medical practices, labor and birthing positions, and extensive relaxation work. Partners participation is highly encouraged, but not required.

Hypnosis for Expectant Couples

Hypnosis for expectant couples is a 3 week series that teaches deep relaxation techniques to be used during labor and childbirth. Use of relaxation during labor helps to reduce anxiety which, in turn, decreases the degree of discomfort a woman may experience during contractions. Each couple will undergo an assessment to identify how the expectant mother processes relaxation. Different techniques including touch, sound, and visualization are used to help the mother learn relaxation. Partners are instructed how to identify how the expectant mother relaxes and to use different techniques to help her maintain a state of deep relaxation. Practicing of deep relaxation as a couple prior to the onset of labor allows for greater partner participation during childbirth. The integration of deep relaxation and partner participation helps the family achieve an overall positive birth experience.

 

Childbirth Hypnosis is a form of hypnosis which utilizes deep relaxation to help reduce fear, anxiety and discomfort associated with pregnancy and childbirth.

Childbirth Hypnosis is a process of training your body to react to certain stimuli. The woman being hypnotized is always in control and will accept no suggestion that she would not accept when not under hypnosis.

Childbirth Hypnosis helps the pregnant woman adjust mentally and physically to the dramatic changes happening to her body and life. By practicing deep relaxation through self-hypnosis, the expectant mother strengthens her bond with baby that helps facilitate parent-infant attachment after birth.

Childbirth Hypnosis can be used for virtually any pregnancy related ailment and is particularly effective with:

    • Anxiety/ Fear
    • Pain Management
    • Headaches
    • Fatigue/ Sleeplessness
    • Sleep Problems
    • Morning Sickness
    • Labor & Delivery
    • Stress/ Tension

 

 
 

Partner Prenatal Yoga & Massage

Partner Prenatal Yoga & Massage classes are open to all expectant mothers and their support partners regardless of prior yoga experience. Partner teams are instructed in a variety of yogic postures and massage techniques that help prepare the mind and body for the enormous demands of labor, and childbirth. Yogic postures and massage techniques are designed to help ease common labor-related discomforts, address specific labor conditions (i.e. back labor), stimulate relaxation, and encourage partner participation in the birthing process. Classes are 2 hours in duration. Check schedule for upcoming sessions.
